Musical Easels Workshops

The Musical Easels series of workshops are designed to expand an art students capacity for interpretation and broaden their repertoire of stylistic approaches to art. This is accomplished through the studying of different styles of art and the fun exercises of applying these varying artistic styles to specific subject matter on canvas while swapping easels with fellow students. The timed exercises, which force the student to work with a certain amount of speed, serve to keep the analytic mind at bay and facilitate the development of intuitive faculties. The Music and Poetry workshops offer an added abstract dimension and an added unique opportunity for free association with these other art forms.

Musical Easels Workshop I: Painting
This workshop begins with the studying and copying of different styles of art. Once students have rallied their creative juices and opened their minds to new directions, the workshop takes a turn and challenges them to use this newfound talent on the fly as they impose different styles of art onto specific subject matter, in a timed setting, jumping to the next easel, with a new set of stylistic challenges. It is a rousing way to stretch the students abilities and a fun way to find new pathways to the expression of art.
-------------Four 2.5 hour lessons: $200 per student ($50 per each 2.5 hour lesson)

Musical Easels Workshop I: Drawing
This workshop follows the same program as the Muscial Easels Painting Workshop. The art that is studied and copied and the art that is produced by the students is created throught the use of charcoal, pastel, pencil and/or pen & ink instead of paints.
-------------Four 2.5 hour lessons: $200 per student ($50 per each 2.5 hour lesson)

Musical Easels Workshop I: Music
This workshop begins with the loose and free flowing exercise of depicting the feel of different styles of music on paper with a single drawing instrument, such as a pen or pencil. Students will have fun guessing which student's art corresponds to which piece of music. As the Workshop progresses, art output from the student will become more involved as students learn to translate what they are hearing into two-dimensional artworks. The workshop ends with a fun and challenging effort to derive quick interpretations of music on canvas (or paper) in a timed setting while swapping music and easels with fellow students. Completion of the Muscial Easels Painting or Drawing workshop is recommended before taking the Muscial Easels Music or Poetry Workshops.
-------------Four 2.5 hour lessons: $200 per student ($50 per each 2.5 hour lesson)

Musical Easels Workshop I: Poetry
This workshop follows the same program as the Muscial Easels Music Workshop, however, in this workshop it is different styles of poetry/writing that become the impetus for creative stimulation instead of music. Completion of the Muscial Easels Painting or Drawing workshop is recommended before taking the Muscial Easels Music or Poetry Workshops.
-------------Four 2.5 hour lessons: $200 per student ($50 per each 2.5 hour lesson)
